Samsung N230 Netbook

If you’ve got your eye on Samsung’s latest netbook, the N230, then you might be interested in Notebookcheck’s review of the N230.

As expected, build quality is top notch with a tough aluminum brushed interior (albeit a glossy lid). Ergonomics are excellent – the keyboard is heavily praised as the N230′s best feature, the trackpad just as good except some may have issue with the flush design. Like with all Samsung netbooks, the screen is matte. It’s extremely quiet and the fan is off most of the time.

So what about the downsides? Samsung decided to introduce 3-cell batteries for their netbooks with the 3-cell battery model giving just under 4 hours of battery life. Screen brightness is around 200 nits which means you might have trouble viewing it outside despite the matte display.

Excluding price, the Samsung N230 is a definitely a nice netbook but when you factor in the price, the 3-cell battery model starts at $399 (see Amazon) which is definitely not as good value as other netbooks. There is a 6-cell battery  model but I could not spot one anywhere.
