The chip manufacturer Qualcomm is a major supplier of ARM platforms for the new ARM version of Windows 8, which is called Windows RT. At Computex, Qualcomm has given us a first reference design for a 10.1-inch tablet with a Snapdragon MSM8960 S4 dual-core processor, which will serve as the basis for Windows tablets. The system is equipped with all kinds of hardware and toys, including a card reader, high-resolution cameras and various sensors.
In addition to the new reference hardware, our video is particularly interesting because it’s the first time we can get a real impression of the performance of Windows 8 and Windows Tablet on an ARM processor. The Qualcomm spokesman kindly showed us how the apps work on the new system and showed us a complex 3D game with Vendetta Onlinea, which is coming soon for Windows on the RT market. Is interesting to note also that the game continues to run in the background while you check the calendar app, or perform any other metro app.
