Update: The Android Blog has spotted one of these at Kmart and posted up a hands on video. The experience is summed up in two words – slow and unresponsive. As with the GenBook smartbook, you get what you pay for! Hands on video below:

Dirt cheap Android tablets have been lurking around certain countries in Asis for a few months now. But the US has yet to really get any tablets other then the iPad, even the Dell Streak has yet to officially hit the streets over here. It looks like you won’t have to rely on eBay or random import companies to provide your Android tablet fix, Kmart is selling an Android tablet for $149.99.

The tablet which appeared in a Kmart flyer is the Augen GenTouch 7 inch Android 2.1 tablet. According to the company web site, it features an 800 x 480 pixel display, an 800MHz CPU, 256MB of RAM, 2GB of storage and WiFi, as well as an SD card slot.

Since Android 2.1 doesn’t support Marketplace I wouldn’t bank on the sales line of “over 700,000 Apps at your finger tips” being true. But hey, for $150, I wouldn’t mind rooting it myself!!
