Samsung has finally released information about their new Chrome OS devices: the Chromebook series 5 550 and the Chromebox series 3. The devices have gotten serious upgrades, especially in terms of processing power and hardware.
While the Chromebox is already available for $329, you’ll have to lay out more for the Chromebook. It’s priced at $ 449 for the standard version, but if you want to have the 3G version you’ll have to fork over $549. The design is very slim and the 12.1-inch screen has a 1280 x 800 resolution. As suspected, we now have a Celeron chip of the Sandy Bridge generation on board, more specifically an Intel Celeron 867 Dual Core, which is clocked at 1.3 GHz.
The Chromebox has a Celeron chip with 1.9 GHz. Both devices rely on a new version of the Chrome OS, which is now integrated with Google Drive. The Chromebook also has 4 GB of RAM, a HD webcam, 2 USB ports and a 4-in-1 card reader. Both devices are now available here in the United States.
