As ultrabooks get thinner, memory and data storage get downsized. Manufacturers of SSD’s are taking notice. In a press release, RunCore announced a new SSD,”almost half the size of conventional 2.5 inch SSD’s without the case,” called the Rocket Air. RunCore is targeting the ever rising number of Ultrabook consumers who want to boost their storage space and transfer data between devices.

Ordinarily, shaving off millimeters leads to lower performance and less storage. However testing shows that the Rocket Air SSD is capable of over 500MB/s transfer via its SATA III interface. It offers Tier 1 Toggle Synchronous NAND too, which also boosts its performance.

The Rocket Air is compatible with the mid 2011 MacBook Air and provides nearly 4 times the storage built into the device. It’s a great idea for anyone trying to maximize memory without sacrificing portability or performance. The key features are listed below.

Rocket Air SSD Main Features:

·         Compatible with Late-2011 MacBook Air perfectly

·         SATA III interface and Tier 1 Toggle Synchronous NAND

·         Data Encryption: 128-bit AES-compliant

·         ECC: Up to 55 bits correctable per 512-byte sector (BCH)

·         Wear Leveling: Enhanced endurance by dynamic/static wear-leveling

·         Trim supported

·         Dimension: 108.9(L) x 24(W) x 3.2(T) mm
