Update: Just got the word from reader Dan, that the UL20FT is now shipping in the US from Amazon.com, in black only, with a RRP of $649.

If you have any doubts about there being any HDMI port (there is) see the comments.

We caught wind of the 12.1″ thin and light UL20FT ASUS notebook a couple of months ago when it appeared in a magazine with full specs and all. The UL20FT follows on from the UL20A with an upgrade to Intel’s new Core i3 or  Celeron U3400 processor with Turbo33 technology though the chassis appears mostly untouched.

This week, the UL20FT with the Celeron U3400 processor turned up in Japan and will go on sale there today for 59,800 yen. Not only that, it has turned up in the US, up  for pre-order at ExcaliberPC.com priced at $579 with a release date next month on Aug 6. The US model sports the faster Core i3-330UM processor. Fingers crossed at worse it’ll arrive sometime next month.

Specs match those revealed from a couple of months ago – 12.1″ 1366 x 768 display (glossy), Intel HD graphics, Intel Core i3-330UM (1.2GHz) processor, 2GB DDR2 RAM, 250GB HDD, 0.3MP webcam, HDMI out, 6-cell 4,400mAh battery and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.
