Qualcomm has been experiencing a little more love from OEMs like HTC who launched their flagship One X on the Snapdragon S4 processor over Tegra 3 because Nvidia’s solution wasn’t compatible with AT&T’s LTE.  It looks like Nvidia will be fighting back with plans for an updated Tegra 3+ processor that will bring better performance to both phones and tablets. The new processor dubbed “Grey” that will begin shipping a later this year.

Michael Rayfield, Nvidia’s general manager of mobile business revealed and confirmed a previous leak today that an updated Tegra 3+ would arrive sometime during late 2012 but LTE integration wont come with it until early 2013, late 2012 if we’re lucky.

At least there is a solution on the way and we won’t have to wait for Tegra 4 for LTE support. In the meantime, Samsung may release the Galaxy S 3 with a quad-core Exynos which could be LTE and Qualcomm’s dual-core S4 is already on the market.  So there are other options if you want the speed of LTE in your hand.
