The ASUS Transformer line up has a budget brother and it Transformer Pad 300 has just popped up for pre order in France at the Tablette Store for €499, or about $650 for the 32GB edition. Google Shopping revealed the same model at US retailer J&R who, when challenged on the incomplete entry confirmed they would have the 16GB model for $379.
If you’re wondering how the 300 differs we’ve got a comparison chart here, but basically they’ve cut back on alot of the features like it’s got a 10-inch IPS display not a Super IPS+ display and 16GB of storage, not 32GB or 64GB. Otherwise, the key specs remain the same: a quad-core Tegra 3 chip, 1GB of RAM, Android 4.0, 1280 x 800 resolution and dual 8MP / 2MP cameras.
