Toshiba is looking to make a name for themselves in the Tablet space but the a newly announced tablet the LT170 isn’t the most impressive model they’ve come out with. The hardware specs and price don’t make that attractive. The LT170 has a 1GHz processor, a 1024×600 display, only 512MB of RAM, and 8GB storage, you’d think that Toshiba would be able to deliver the LT170 as a budget-priced tablet. With the exception of storage capacity. If you think that sounds kind of familiar it actually reads a lot like the original Samsung Galaxy Tab, however, you can pick up that tab for around $300. If you’re wondering how much the LT170 is going for, it will cost you nearly $400.

The LT170 has plans for an Italian launch, which should take place in late March. We’d expect to see it available all over Europe around the same time, but there’s no word on other markets Toshiba may be considering.

We’d rather use the same money to pick up the upcoming ASUS Transformer Pad 300 or any number of aging but still adequate Android tablets at a discount. Then there is always the rumored 7-inch Nexus tablet said to be priced at $149 so we’d like to keep our options open for now.
