Google will release a 7-inch “Nexus Tablet” in the first half of 2012, but many have doubted that Google would actually enter the hardware business. Several people have rightfully pointed out that Google traditionally partners with an OEM on these “Google Experience Devices”, just like they did with Motorola on the Xoom tablet.Google was in the plans of releasing a 7-inch, Android 4.0 “Nexus” tablet for $200.

Today, Android and Me is reporting the same rumor, coming from its own sources. But this time, there is a bit more to be noted. According to said sources, the tablet will be manufactured by ASUS, and will also sport a Tegra 3 quad-core processor.

ASUS has been building a great relationship with Google, so this would not surprise us very much. Last year, the company proved to be a great asset to the Android ecosystem, with timely updates and great products. Not to mention the fact that ASUS was the first large manufacturer to bring Android 4.0 to its devices.

We certainly know that ASUS is capable of creating a good quality Tegra 3 budget tablet since the MeMo is heading to market as we type.

Asus deserves to be picked. They are the most innovative (ie Padfone, Transformer), haven’t tried to charge a ridiculous amount for things (ie Motorola Xoom), and are the best at providing dockable keyboards that can be probably be reused in a future version.
