Ice Cream Sandwich is on the way to most devices, with eminent release dates for the ones that have recently hit the market like the Acer Iconia Tab A200. The Android 4.0 release started rolling out to the A200 a few day’s ago and A500 users have been pretty vocal about wanting to get an update for their tablet as well. Lucky for them Acer’s New Zealand division announced on their Facebook that the A500 will be getting the Android 4.0 upgrade as well.

Great news, everyone! We’ve just got confirmation from HQ that the Iconia Tab A500 will be getting Ice Cream Sandwich in April. No exact date yet, but we’ll let you know when we have it. What are you looking forward to most in ICS?

It’s a little weird that the announcement didn’t come from Acer in the US or Taiwan but I’m sure this means that the roll out will be global.

Given that the A200 appears to be a A500 without the back camera, this should not take much effort on Acer’s part.
