ThinkGeek recently announced a new addition to their iCade line of retro gaming products, the 8-Bitty Bluetooth wireless controller for Android and iOS devices. It looks like a mashup between a NES and SNES controller with a bit of Atari 2600 woodgrain thrown in.
The controller mainly looks like the original NES controller but adds two more buttons on the front, as well as shoulder buttons at the top to control more modern video games on your smartphone or tablet. It supports all of the games supported by the iCade gaming cabinet, in addition to MAME emulators — iMAME4All for jailbroken iOS devices, and MAME4Droid for Android devices. ThinkGeek has an extensive list of iOS games that the 8-Bitty controller will work with out of the box.
The 8-Bitty controller is slated to be released “later this year” for $24.95. You can sign up to be notified of availability at ThinkGeek.
