While the Wi-Fi version of Sony’s Tablet S went on sale in India back in November 2011, it’s only now that the 3G versions of both the Sony Tablet S and the dual-screened Tablet P have become available for Indian buyers.

Apparently the 3G versions of these tablets were announced back in December last year, and were supposed to be on sale mid-January, but were delayed for unknown reasons.

Sony made a splash last year introducing their own Android tablet with special Sony customizations on top of Android Honeycomb. They added media remote features and PlayStation certification to differentiate from other Android tablets. And their hardware designs for the Tablet S and Tablet P, in typical Sony style, were definitely more stylish and unique compared to many of the existing Android tablets already in the market. It’s no wonder that Sony was able to carve out a decent little niche for themselves in the Android tablet space, at least before cheaper, 7-inch tablets like the Kindle Fire went and carved out an even bigger piece of the market.

The Tablet S, priced at INR 33,750, and Tablet P, priced at INR 36,750 are available now from online retailer Flipkart.
