Last week Judge Alsup told Oracle that their $6.1B claim against Google was a joke and that they needed to come up with a more reasonable methodology. Today news has surfaced on how they came up with that number, Oracle assumes that Google makes $10 million each day from Android users.

The original estimate given last year by Oracle claims damages of $6.1 billion. However, the judge rejected this assessment and has required Oracle to produce another acceptable damages report.

The number is derived from their estimation that Google makes $14 per Android from mobile advertisement coupled with the daily Android activation figures which have reached 700,000 in recent months. Oracle hasn’t said what magical math they used to come up with the figure.

Now that the judge has nixed the trail date it’ll be interesting to see how they justify these claims to get things back on track.
