Samsung Electronics supplier of Apple iPad displays will start volume shipments of 9.7-inch panels of the iPad in July, their monthly shipments reaching 300,000-500,000 units, according to market sources.
Samsung is not the only provider of diplay’s to the tablet girat, LG Display shipped about 800,000-900,000 9.7-inch iPad panels in May, up from over 700,000 units in April, 470,000 units in March, and 300,000 units in February, the Digitimes sources noted.
Digitimes Research analyst Kuo Ming-Chi said monthly shipments of the iPad have reached 1.2 million units, up from the 700,000 units per month when the product first introduced to the market, and the monthly shipments may reach 2.5 million units by the end of 2010.
Kuo noted that the current cost of a 9-7-inch iPad panel with a touch module is about US$80-90.
