Once again its time for another AMD-based Ultra-thin notebook that makes the future of netbooks look a little harder. The Hewlett-Packard Pavilion DM1z has been seen with an AMD alternative of the Intel-based DM1 which has the same case as the already popular HP or HP Compaq Mini 311 or Mini 311c. In this case, the AMD Athlon processor II Neo K125 single-core 1.7 GHz is built with the ATI graphics for multimedia performance. We saw this model in Cannes a few weeks ago for the first time and it’s now available in Japan for the first time.

Hewlett-Packard has renamed the DM1z to the DM1A in Japan and will be available on July 8th. For now, there is apparently only the single-core version, but we don’t think it will be long before we see dual-core versions using the AMD Athlon X2 II Neo K325 or K625 CPU. The CPU is supported by the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4225 graphics solution, which can also play back high-resolution content without any problems. That 11.6-inch display works of course with 1366 × 768 pixels.

HP sells the DM1z in Japan with 2 GB of RAM with a possible upgrade up to 5 GB. It also comes with a 250 GB hard drive at a quick 7200 rpm, but there is also a 128 GB SSD version. In addition there is WLAN-N, normal Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, a webcam and speakers from Altec Lansing. Furthermore, a VGA and an HDMI output, three USB 2.0 ports, and the typical audio connections. HP promises the 6-cell battery will run up to 6.5 hours.
