Shouldn’t come as a surprise as Intel has informed its partners on a few occasions of its plans to retire the original Atoms the 230 & 330. End of an era folks, before long it will be a distant memory that Atom didn’t support HD content, we’ll it will be a while longer, but this is a first step.
At the end of this month Intel will not be selling Atom 330 and 230 parts so we hope that you’ve taken heed of Intel’s warning and have enough of them in stock for maintenance and other kind of support.
Naturally Atom D425 and D525 and a bit older and supporting DDR2 and D410 D510 will be there to continue the nuclear legacy.
D525 and D425 atom should remain the fastest atom, at least until Q4 2010 when they might be replaced with some faster iterations of the same CPU. This is yet to be announced but we would not be surprised as the real atom 32nm successor Oaktrail will rear its head in late 2011.
