blackpad - Blackberry Tablet

Not the first time we’ve heard about RIM coming out with a tablet, the rumors run hot and cold. The Wall Street Journal had caught wind of some news that RIM is testing out some new touchscreen smartphones with a slide out keyboard and its aimed at taking down one competitor, the iPhone. Is there a new Blackberry in the works, always, so I don’t doubt that RIM has something hot up its sleeve, if not a new phone then a tablet.

The interesting twist on the RIM tablet is that it would access broadband by tethering to a BlackBerry. It does make sense if you are using your Blackberry for business and want to save your battery for surfing and multimedia for your companion device the tablet. RIM would not be encroaching on the time saving productivity tool that is Blackberry they would simply be focusing on the tablet as a content consumption device. People with Blackberry’s are often on the road, so its not far fetched that they would need something to occupy their long flights.
