Huawei’s 7-inch Android tablet, the MediaPad, is a nice little 7-inch tablet with a well-built aluminum chassis and some decent specs:
- Android 3.2 Honeycomb
- 7-inch multi-touch display, 1280 x 800
- 1.2 GHz, dual-core processor
- 1.3 MP front cam, 5 MP rear cam, 720p HD video recording
- microSDHC card slot, supports up to 32 GB cards
In the US, it’s available from T-Mobile under a different name as the T-Mobile SpringBoard with Google, but elsewhere it’s still the Huawei Mediapad.
Images have leaked from a Chinese forum showing an unofficial build of Android 4.0.1 running on the MediaPad. This isn’t really surprising, since a lot of devices — both smartphones and tablets — have been getting unofficial Ice Cream Sandwich builds. Huawei hasn’t yet officially announced whether ICS will be an available upgrade for the MediaPad, but at least if you’re a MediaPad user waiting for ICS, this is a nice preview.
