Update: Looks like ASUS US made a few changes with out telling HQ and full retail availability has been moved to the 19-20th. However, it was done for an interesting reason and the date change doesn’t actually mean that you won’t be getting your ASUSbefore the 19th.
According to a Transformer Prime Product Manager ” We’ve had 50% more preorders than expected so those who preordered before today will be getting their ASUSPrime before the 19th, [as the preorders] alone make up the entire initial shipment.”
Clearly the Transformer Prime has exceeded the companies expectations and they are aiming to fulfill all the pre orders made before December 1st. But if you are counting on having it under the tree you might want to have a back up gift in mind, they just can’t make them fast enough.
Sorry for the confusion, but it appears in a company so large the right hand isn’t always talking to the left. This might be a good reason to have an actual press event to set all the details straight.
There has been a lot of speculation about release dates for the ASUS Transformer Prime TF201 hybrid Android tablet with keyboard docking station. According to a spokes person at ASUS, Taiwan is going to be the first country to get the Transformer Prime and it is going on sale December 1st.
If you’re not lucky enough to call Taiwan home and live in Europe, you’re going to have to wait until January, exact release dates in each country will depend on local sales and distribution. The US is fortunate enough to get the Prime in 2011 and should see the tablet in time for holiday sales starting December 8th.
The US release date doesn’t really come as a surprise since the ASUS Transformer Prime has been available for Pre-Order through Amazon for over a week now. Lucky for us we’re based in Taiwan and will be rattling the shop doors when they open around 11am.
If you want a peak at the official Transformer Prime slides from the ASUS Press Briefing we’ve got them for you below.
