Following the HP/Palm webOS saga these past months has been a draining roller coaster ride. Those of us with high hopes for the platform have been in stasis for so long; we just want an answer, whether it’s a good or bad one. Well, perhaps today we’ll finally move forward after the webOS division has their all-hands employee meeting late this afternoon.
Reportedly the CEO Meg Whitman and HP SVP Jon Rubinstein will be there, which lends some credence to the possibility that they’ve finally decided what to do with webOS. There were stories a day or two ago that HP may be selling webOS at a loss to Oracle, of all companies. If this is the case, I don’t have high hopes at all that development will continue. If that occurs, it would likely be a patent grab, and formal webOS development would probably cease.
Whatever the case, just make the decision. The webOS community has been ready for a while now.
