Just a quick note that if you are searching for the Samsung Galaxy Note, the awesome 5.3″-screened “phablet” (phone and tablet) with the optimized S Pen stylus and you’re in the UK, you can now purchase the Galaxy Note at Carphone Warehouse, Clove, or Phones4U.
While Carphone Warehouse had a special sales event today, the Galaxy Note is not yet up on their retail website. Clove UK will be selling the Note for £495.00, not including VAT. While Phones4U is only offering the Galaxy Note with several different Orange contract plans.
The Galaxy Note has captured the tech news cycle ever since its introduction a few months ago in Germany at IFA 2011. Samsung was able to keep details surrounding the Galaxy Note completely quiet, despite the many leaks surrounding its other products like the Galaxy Tab 7.7 which was also announced at IFA 2011 (and subsequently pulled thanks to legal battles with Apple). Its huge 5.3″ Super AMOLED screen and S Pen stylus support really seems to have struck a chord with many mobile device users. I know I want one for my next phone/tablet device!
And while it is a Gingerbread device, it will likely be updated to Ice Cream Sandwich, which should be interesting, since ICS has built-in support for styli. Samsung’s S Pen support in the Galaxy Note is completely their own invention, using their own SDK which they just recently announced will be available for 3rd-party developers to access in December. It’s definitely a good time for mobile device users who have been missing using a stylus from the old-school days of PDA devices.
