If you’re a fan of Gorilla Glass you’ll be pleased to know that Corning has announced Lotus Glass a new type of glass panel for smartphones, tablets, and laptops. The new line is meant to be strong and durable, Corning says the glass is manufactured by super-heating it and then cooled very slowly. The result is a thinner glass that can withstand the processes of being incorporated into precise, high-resolution organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays and next generation LCDs. Lotus Glass has reduced power requirements for the display technology, its also is environmentally friendly, and offers better clarity and image quality. Lotus Glass is already shipping to electronics makers.
