Chippy over at CarryPad has sat down and done a 25 minute comparison of the Archos 5 android tablet and the Apple iPad. The two devices are drastically different since the Archos is 5 inches and the iPad is 9, but they are both home surfing devices. I think you’ll be surprised about how much the two devices have in common, the biggest difference is the Archos 5 is one handed or the iPad which is 2.
You’ll also have to consider how you are planning on using the device, if eBook is your main concern then the 180 Gram Archos is a better option then the 680 Gram iPad. Chippy really does a great job of demonstrating the differences and similarities as well as discussing the expected experience from each. It is pretty long, but we’ll worth the time it took me to drink a cup of coffee
