iPad 3 Goes into Production, with Early 2012 Launch Date?

Now that the iPhone 4S has launched and we know that we’re still looking for the iPhone 5, the question of the day is when will Apple update the iPad? Susquehanna Financial analyst Jeff Fidacaro, believes that Apple will be hitting the streets in early 2012 as Apple is sending the iPad3 into production this quarter. He also believes that 600,000 to 1 million iPad 3 units will be built this quarter.

This isn’t Fidacaro’s first time  calling out Apple, in the past he’s actually been successful as he claimed supposed to produce between 11 million and 13 million iPads during the fourth quarter. Currently the number now stands at 12 million to 14 million.

However, if we ask The Linley Group who follows the mobile processor industry, they believer that the quad-core A6 processor that should appear in the iPad 3 won’t be ready until at least June 2012.  We’ll have to wait and see and take this news with a grain of salt.

    Success of the iPhone 4S could mean Apple may plan to do the same with the iPad and release an intermediate model for the iPad and not an actual iPad 3.

    They still got time before the other manufacturers come out with their next gen ARM processors.  Only Nvidia with the Tegra 3 would be a immediate concern right now, but that’s a 40nm chip and not a 28nm like the others are coming out with later in 2012. 

    So could be possible they may make due with a quad core A5 with 1GB of RAM for now and still plan the A6 for a proper iPad3 later in the year, maybe as late as when Windows 8 is suppose to come out.

    i’ll tell you he is wrong it has to have a quad core so it can’t be in production yet
