HTC Legend Unboxing

I know its not the newest phone, but I just picked it up and thought I would unbox it for you and give you a few impressions anyways. The Legend has a 3.2-inch AMOLED screen with a 5-megapixel autofocus camera and uses Qualcomm’s 600MHz MSM7227 processor.

It also comes with an optical joystick. It takes a little getting used to – stroking it from side to side to navigate homescreens or tabs – took me a good hour but once you’re familiar it actually feels pretty accurat. There are seven homescreen panes and a variety of HTC’s own widgets and unfortunately a bunch of Chinese multimedia sites from what I could tell. You also save various “Scenes”, with layouts and wallpapers suited to different times of day or activity.

Speed is generally pretty impressive across the board and it doesn’t feel like I’m going break it, as many of my phones end up in pieces after a good night of drinking. My next biggest concern after build quality is battery life. So far after having it for 2 days, it lasted my 40 hours. Not too shabby, considering I had an 40 minute gossip session and nine short calls, I also sent and received around 25 text messages and I spent the day using the map to navigate from destination to destination around Taipei.

So far so good on my decision to go Android, almost got the desire but my bank book told me Legend, so far no buyers remorse, that is until I see the EVO. . . But hey, if you constantly waited for that next new device, you’d never buy!

    Hi Nicole, nice video!
I too have a Legend and I'm very satisfied with it (first Android experience after an iPhone 3G)
Let us know if you have any connectivity problems (I do not have any…) as some reviewers (see Steve Litchfield) gave bad ratings for its metal casing that seems to prevent good reception (both wi-fi & 3G)

I just did a speed test on the subway here (yes very blessed to have internet underground!) and I was getting 3.5 up .06 down! So far its using the available bandwidth on 3G. I'll post updates if I start to have issues, but so far I'm very pleased!
