There are so many patent lawsuits between Samsung and Apple that it’s hard to keep track of them all. However, in a recent report from Ars Technica, it seems that the two companies are closing in on an agreement that may allow Samsung to sell the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia as soon as next week.
Samsung has agreed to dropping a couple multitouch-related features on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 that Apple claims Samsung is infringing upon:
- using certain algorithms to block accidental touches on the tablet screen
- showing a “zoom bounce” visual when the user has reached the maximum or minimum zoom level
In addition to dropping these two features, Samsung has proposed a settlement agreement to Apple, the details of which have not been revealed. If Apple accepts this agreement along with Samsung’s concessions to drop the aforementioned features, Samsung may be able to proceed with Galaxy Tab 10.1 sales in Australia.
