Ruggedized electronics are a niche, mainly aimed at construction and field workers, but given some people’s tendencies to drop or otherwise abuse their gadgets, perhaps ruggedized gadgets should be more common! The Asus Tough ETBW11AA is a 7-inch Honeycomb tablet that’s waterproof, dustproof, and has a ruggedized case built to withstand a drop onto concrete from over 3 feet.

Of course, having a waterproof and dustproof case that’s able to withstand over a 3-foot drop adds some bulk to the overall device. The supposed weight for this 7″ tablet is about 620 grams. Other relevant specs:

  • 7-inch screen, 1280 x 800, now a pretty typical resolution for 7″ screens
  • NVIDIA Tegra 2, dual-core processor
  • 16 GB internal storage
  • 5 MP rear cam
  • mini-USB port, micro-SD slot
  • GPS

While the Tough tablet is currently slated for release in Japan for KDDI, it could theoretically be released in the US by Sprint since the Tough will support EVDO Rev.A and WiMax, reports The Droid Guy.
