At IFA 2011, Samsung announced a plethora of Galaxy devices over a huge range of screen sizes. Most notable were the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7, a super-thin device with a 7.7″ Super AMOLED display, and the Samsung Galaxy Note, a bridge device between the smartphone and tablet categories, also with a 5.3″ Super AMOLED display. However, no mention of a Galaxy Tab Plus device was made at IFA or anywhere else, it seems.

Going by this new device’s name, Galaxy Tab Plus, it sounds like this will be a minor update to the original Samsung Galaxy Tab, with specs not quite as high-end as the specs for the Galaxy Tab 7.7. Release date and pricing aren’t yet known, but here are a few rumored specs:

  • running Honeycomb
  • 7″ Super AMOLED or Super AMOLED Plus display with 1024 x 600 resolution
  • Cortex A9 processor
  • will support T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network, but a Wi-Fi only version will also be available

TmoNews has a few more photos of the Galaxy Tab Plus. From the photos it doesn’t seem to be quite as thin as the Galaxy Tab 7.7, but overall the device does look like a nice refresh of the original Galaxy Tab.
