The Asus UX31 Ultrabook sports a 13.3 inch display with an amazing screen resolution of 1600 x 900.  The Ultrabook is predictably thin at 0.67 inches which is an idential height to the 11.6 inch UX21. The UX31 which does remind us of the Macbook Air because since its ultrathin its design includes ventilation in the hinge. We loved the build quality as it felt well built and extermely solid, it also had a glass trackpad which was responsive with a pretty loud click.

Looking at additional UX31 specs we’ve got an SD card slot, Mini-HDMI, Mini-DisplayPort, and 2 USB ports. We are still waiting on exact specifications and the available configurations of the Ux31 & the UX21.

An interesting side note on configuration is that we will be seeing less SKUs when it comes to Ultrabook’s versus traditional notebooks since Ultrabook’s have the RAM and is soldered on to the mother board.  Meaning OEMs will have to decide what options their devices will come in.  The consumer will also not be able to upgrade the SSD since Ultrabook’s ship with theft protection which may inhibit the removal of the hard drive.

Both the ASUS UX 31 & UX21 are meant to be avaiable later this month, so we’ll have to wait an see what ASUS decides to do with their Ultrabook line up.
