At the Dreamforce conference in San Francisco Eric Schmidt confirmed that Android next update, Ice Cream Sandwich, will be ready for release in October or November. What Schmit actually said at the conference was:
We have a new operating system, internally known as Ice Cream Sandwich for some reason, which is being released in October/November, which everyone’s really excited about.

This means that we could see Google release the Ice Cream Sandwich SDK possibly in the next three weeks! However, what is more likely is that we’ll see it in November with the Nexus Prime roll that that is expected in late November or early December.

With Google’s next refresh on the verge of being released we’ve got to wonder what GoogleTV is going to look like. The honeycomb version was meant to be released before Ice Cream Sandwich however, it doesn’t make sense to release code when ICS is means to unify Android under once set of source code. So when the new SDK is released that is one of the first things that I will be looking out for since I consider the current iteration unusable.
If you want to check Schmidt’s talk for your self, fast forward to 30:25 in the Salesforce’s Dreamforce Keynote.
