This has to be one of the stranger iPhone 5 stories I’ve come across in a while, PocketNow claims to have come across a leaked photo of the iPhone 5′s camera in action. The image below has been cropped to 2235 x 2291, but this was most lkely done to frame the photo around the plate as the original resolution was 3264 x 2448, which works out to a perfect 4:3 aspect ratio at around 8 megapixels. The EXIF is very easy to fake and it does indicate that the device was an iPhone 4, which is expected since prototypes wouldn’t have updated firmware. We are also expecting a camera upgrade so the move from a 5-megapixel camera found on the iPhone 4 to an 8-megapixel camera makes sense.

There are a few indications that this could be a real photo from the iPhone 5 which we are expecting to be announced in the next few weeks. The most damning evidence that this is a legit photo is that the shooter is an Apple engineer. The other tidbit of information is that the image data points the location of the photo originating from Apple’s Infinite Loop campus Building 1.

You guys are obsessed with Apple stuff. Who tracks a picture just because its from the “next iPhone”? It’s enough drama with people “all over the world” with them, just wait it out a bit. The world’s not going to end soon if you don’t find out it’s new features
