Peter at Netbooked got his hands on a Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3s with the new 1.83GHz Intel Atom N470 processor and compared it to the S10-3 the 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 CPU.
The Lenovo S10-3s scored slightly higher on most tests, but actually lagged a tiny bit in the graphics department. The N470 gets a Windows Experience score of 2.5 compared with 2.3 for the N450 but don’t forget that this is a score out of 7. . .so really the usability to the end user is negligible. This really isn’t surprising, as increasing the clock speed by 166Mhz isn’t really that big of a deal.
So at the end of the day when faced you are going to be buying a new netbook, if they are the same price, go with the N470, cuz why not?!? But if you are looking to pay a whole lot more which is the reality that we will all be facing in the near future, then well, I’d save a few bucks and put that money towards upgrading the RAM. That is an upgrade that will actually effect your system performance!
