I’m actually pretty surprised that since the Samsung Galaxy Note was “leaked”, people still don’t know any firm details about what it could be. Thinking about the name, I hypothesized that perhaps it could be a dual-screened device with a vertical hinge that opens and closes like a dead-tree notebook, possibly an e-reader device or a dual-screened Android tablet. However, given the low success rate of many dual-screened devices (Kyocera Echo, anyone?), this theory is likely far-fetched. A recent post on Carrypad postulates that the Galaxy Note may be a slider tablet device similar to the Asus Eee Slider. This sounds a lot more likely and quite exciting!
As Ben reported on Carrypad, Samsung previously showed off a slider PC concept running Windows 7 at CES that was supposed to become available in March earlier this year, but hasn’t materialized. The new theory is that the slider has been remade into an Android tablet. Will this be the case? And will it run Honeycomb, or Ice Cream Sandwich? Samsung’s IFA 2011 announcements will be official on Sept. 1, so we’ll be sure to post an update once the device has been officially revealed.
