If you’re jonesing for a netbook with a bit more HD oomph under the hood than the regular fare, then the 1005PR might just be for you – and wouldn’t you know it, it just popped up for pre-order on Amazon! This new ASUS Eee PC model sports all the usual goodness – a 1.6GHz N450 processor, 1GB RAM, 250GB Hard Drive (Plus ASUS’s much-touted 500GB free online storage – although it’s unclear if anybody actually uses this, ever), a webcam and 802.11n WiFi capability.
Aside from the standard netbook specs, this model’s showpiece is its 1,366×768 display and Broadcom Crystal HD Accelerator for dealing with those troublesome HD resolutions. The claimed 11 hours of battery life is probably slightly inflated, but the real-world figure will doubtless be quite respectable. Windows 7 Starter is running the show.
For now the pre-order availability is US only, and no firm word on a street date. If you’re ready to put $400 down for this tasty little number, head on over to the Amazon page right now.
