Just earlier this week, it was discovered that Sony’s 9.4-inch tablet, internally codenamed the “S1″, would be named the Tablet S. Now the name for Sony’s other dual-screen 5.5-incher clamshell has been discovered. It’ll be called the Tablet P. There’s no word on pricing or exact release dates, although there are rumored prices of $599 for the Tablet S and $699 for the Tablet P. Both tablets are expected to go on sale next month in September. In the UK, pre-orders for the Tablet S are expected to start as early as September 1st. AT&T has already officially announced that it’ll release the Tablet P with HSPA+ later in the year.
Both tablets sport Nvidia Tegra 2, are PlayStation certified and will be available in Wi-Fi only and 4G models. The Tablet S has a 9.4-inch 1280 x 800 display in a Slate form factor, 1GB of RAM with 16GB / 32GB internal storage, weighing 600 grams, while the Tablet P has dual 5.5-inch 1024 x 480 displays in a clamshell form factor, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, weighing 370 grams. It’s not clear what version of Honeycomb they’ll ship with but we’ve at least seen screenshot leaks showing the tablets running Android 3.2.
