While the Wi-Fi Galaxy Tab 8.9 should offer the same dual-core 1GHz Tegra 2 processors as the Galaxy Tab 10.1, the 4G LTE model is expected to get an upgrade to a 1.5GHz processor of some sort, dual-core of course. Other than the LTE radio inside the remaining specs are identical – 8.9″ 1280 x 800 PLS display, Android 3.2 Honeycomb, 2MP / 3MP front and rear cameras, with TouchWiz UX, an 8.6mm thickness with 455g weight.
Samsung is expected to announce the tablet soon, IFA no doubt, but perhaps even earlier. It could launch at some event that is being held in NYC on August 29.
There’s no ETA on the Galaxy Tab 8.9 in the US, but it’s expected to go on sale in September, like in Europe. Product pages for the 8.9-incher are already up at Samsung. The 4G LTE model, if an earlier leak is correct, will go on sale via Verizon in November.
