During the Atmosphere Cloud Computing Forum Google CEO Eric Schmidt give up more details on upcoming Netbooks with Google’s Chrome O/S and there are now some indication of prices. They are going to be appearing from between $300 to $400 and Schmidt who is not tired of pointing out that the price is dependent solely on the components used, because Chrome is free OS.

In the interview Schmidt says “If you think about it there’s not been a new successful platform in this space for 20 years, and I’ve had a few failures along the way. If there’s anyone who understands how hard this stuff is then it’s me personally and the team we’ve assembled is very good. If you go back to what we are trying to do we are trying to develop a new set of platforms.”

Its going to be an interesting year with MeeGo coming to play a little more seriously in October. Let the Operating System Wars continue!
