The Motorola Xoom was the first Android Honeycomb tablet to market and it was obvious from the sheer number of issues the hardware and software revealed. The Xoom even launched minus SD card support when their competitors, like the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer have had this from the get go. You can finally access the SD card which increases the amount of memory available to you. The Xoom is also finally capable of transferring content across and access the memory at the same time, for example to add big movie files without tying up access to everything else.
For Mac users Android File Transfer gets an additional tab, so you can select the SD card specifically if you want to add or remove contents there easily.
When you’re looking for your content it will appear in the respective core apps ie movies in Videos and Gallery, along with photos, and music appearing in Music. You’ll be able to manage and navigate directly to the external memory using standard file manager apps like Astro, just as you would on a mobile phone. However, as you’ll see in the video, this isn’t flawless yet and there is still msome work to be done to get things working seamlessly.
The other feature you’ll notice is that apps now get a zoom feature. If an app hasn’t been designed for the big screen you can opt to zoom to fill, or keep to the default stretched look. You’ll also see in the video below that they might scale but do they look good when they do. All in all this update is welcome because it allows us to access our SD card on the Xoom which is better then not being able to at all!
