You can't really say that it is disappointing that the iPad won't charge from a normal USB port – it is impressive that a device this large can charge over USB at all.
The higher power delivered by Gigabyte motherboards will undoubtedly eventually be on all PCs and laptops, especially with USB3, which includes more power in the spec.
Charging using the standardised USB connector is a great idea, as even the EU recognises:
If its only got one port so it better charge via USB! But yes, I didn’t realize how many amps it needed for charging, I’m glad Gigabyte invited me down for the demo.
I actually can’t wait for more USB 3.0 devices! We’ve got motherboards and netbooks sporting USB 3.0 now all we need are gadgets!!
