According to an article on Computerworld, Nvidia is rating Android and Linux over Windows CE, saying that consumers aren’t familiar with how Android and Linux works, while Windows CE is much more familiar, as it works in a similar way to regular “full fat” versions of Windows.
However, we don’t quite get the comment where Mike Rayfield the general manager for Nvidia’s mobile business unit goes on to say that “Android currently has a rough user interface”, especially considering that Windows CE doesn’t come with anything more than a very basic UI.
The Tegra devices we saw on display during Computex all had slightly customized UI’s on top of Windows CE, but we didn’t see anything that really blew our mind. Nvidia is still using on tuning Android for its Tegra platform, but the article mentions that it’s over a year until we’ll see any Tegra devices running Android.
The main problem with Android seems to be the way it renders graphics, as Google based many of Androids features on Java script for wide platform compatebility. This according to Nvidia isn’t suitable for HD video playback which is one of the major selling points of Tegra.
