According to Digitimes’ sources involved in supplying parts to the Asus Eee Pad Transformer, the next generation Asus Eee Pad Transformer 2 will be launched in October. This rumor comes after two confirmations from ASUS, one from the CEO himself and another from an ASUS rep at Computex, that there is indeed a sequel to the Transformer on the way, although no details on specs or even a rough timeframe have been given away yet, other than it’ll be “impressive”.
When it’ll actually go on sale too is a different matter. I’d expect next year because Asus already has its schedule chock-a-block with tablets in the remaining half of this year. There’s the Eee Pad Slider (late August / early September), Eee Pad MeMO 3D (no date confirmed) and the Eee Padfone – which will be released in this order. We’ve been speculating that it’ll have Windows 8 but if it’s launching this year and going on sale early next year it seems a bit too early for that OS.
