Sony’s been teasing us with some an interesting set of commercials featuring their Sony S1 & S2 tablets. According to CNET, the tablets will be available in 16GB & 32GB versions. The S1 tablet will have both a Wi-Fi-only model and a 3G/Wi-Fi version. The S2, however, will only come in a Wi-Fi and 3G capable model.

The S1 will feature a 9.4-inch IPS display with TruBlack and Bravia display technologies and feature a full-sized SD card slot. And when asked about battery life, CNET’s source claims that the S1 will be “comparable to the iPad 2.” Accessories for the S1 include a dock and at least one Bluetooth keyboard which will sport a design that has it clipping into the bottom of the tablet when not in use.

The S2 is the smaller more mysterious tablet with the clam-shell design that has dual 5.5-inch displays. We now learn that both tablet will be PlayStation Certified devices running on Android 3.0 Honeycomb with a customized interface integrating some of Sony’s existing services such as Qriocity for music and movies.

We can expect to get hands on with the tablets at IFA in Berlin the first week of September and we can expect launch in the same month. Details about US dates are still unknown but we can except that the 3G versions will likely get service through AT&T, which is also the exclusive carrier for Sony’s PS Vita portable gaming device.
