Did you know that Asus tipped off an Eee Pad Transformer successor way back at CES at the start of January, well before any Honeycomb tablets went on sale? We only heard about that bit of news in June though. Today, there’s some more indirect confirmation straight from Asus head himself, Jonney Shih via Forbes. Sadly, no details or release dates dished out other than it would be “impressive”. The same can be said for the current Eee Pad Transformer, too. If we look at that previous bit of news, speculated key rumors are Windows 8, a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 chip and the same 10.1″ 1280 x 800 IPS display, with a release date in 2012.

No doubt Asus is busy with several other tablets that are due out very soon or later in the year. We’re talking about the Padfone, the Eee Pad Slider (late August / early September in the US) and the Eee Pad MeMo 3D (no US date set yet).
