Up until now the closest we’ve had to an official date for the release of the 7-inch Acer Iconia Tab A100 has been sometime in Q3. We’ve also seen behind the scenes and on display price tags at Walmart that show the retailer may be preparing for a release in either July or August although that’s no guarantee it’ll actually ship during that time since nothing was made official. Today, we close in on a date, at least in Germany. Acer responded to a Facebook comment saying the tablet is due for a release in September, right at the end of Q3.
No doubt Acer is waiting for Android 3.2 which is to include optimization for 7-inch displays. Other manufacturers with 7-inch tablets are also waiting – that includes the ViewSonic ViewPad 7x and the Huawei Mediapad. ViewSonic’s 7-incher is scheduled for a mid-August release in Japan. No date on Huawei’s but they want to release in Q3. Seems like August – September is when we’ll see these.
