We aren’t seeing to many tablets in any other size then 9.7″ or 10.1″ inches, so when companies come out with odd sizes like 8.9 its an interesting use case to analyse.  Its not quite small enough for thumb typing like on a 7″ device but it is slightly more portable then an iPad because its just that little bit smaller.  I believe it still remains to be seen if this size category is a winner even though I’m not partial to 10″ tablets because if I’m going to carry something like that around,  well it better have a keyboard like the Transformer so I can get some work done.

Galaxy Tab 8.9, has an 8.9-inch (obviously) display with 1280×800 resolution, a 3-megapixel rear-camera, 2-megapixel front-camera, a bunch of storage options, and a Tegra 2 dual-core processor. It’ll also be powered by Android Honeycomb, version unknown with Samsung’s Touch-Wiz UI as well as options for 16GB or 32GB. In the US we are hearing a late August early September launch (which makes sense since it recently passed through the FCC)
