Digitimes has the latest production numbers from the Taiwanese component manufacturers for tablets and guess what? They show a steep incline upwards! In Q3 Taiwanese manufacturers are predicting a production of up to 22 million tablets (mind you that number is without the Chinese whitebox tablets, which are estimated to add another 15 million units), and now lets consider that the Apple iPad is going to account for 15 million units.  RIM, Motorola, ACER, ASUS, Lenovo & Samsung are going to have to start shipping some serious volumes to try to compete with Apple’s numbers!

This means that non-iPad branded vendors together are expected to take delivery of a total of 7-7.2 million tablet PCs from their contractors in the third quarter, up from 3-3.5 million units they shipped in Q2.

Looking at non-iPad tablets, it seems like Taiwan is hopeful over Amazon’s predicted Fall tablet launch with estimations that they are going require 2M touch panels in August and September shooting for 1-1.2 million units sold in Q3.
