Samsung will be providing a new software update for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the immediate future. The add-on will be the companies software called TouchWiz for Android 3.1 on the tablet. Features of the TouchWiz update offers new home screen widgets, Samsung’s branded media shops, menu icons, all among other things. Samsung has released a video of the tablets features and its a good first look at TouchWiz. Here is whats provided with the software update:

-The back, home and menu buttons have been redrawn from the menu icons in the bottom left corner.

-The clock in the lower right corner uses a calm, easy to read font.

- Picture, clock, calendar, and weather forecast widgets are all re-sizable.

-A cleaner looking custom calander than the default Android 3.1 calander

-A contact manager that Samsung has developed on their own integrating your email and calendar apps.

-By touching the lower right corner in Honeycomb you get a bigger clock and have to click once more for for icon settings like WiFi toggle, brightness adjustments and other fancy features.

-The one-tap Quick Panel has a better layout with more options in less space.

- The “Mini app” can run in multiple windows in stead of having to run in full screen and close others. Somthing most Android, iOS and other operating systems lack.

Unfortunately the video fails to show the app tray which you can view by sliding your finger from the bottom to the top of the screen giving you quick access to specific applications.

Provided already is a Music Hub for songs and playing music, but the update will provide a readers hub for access to newspapers, magazines, and ebooks. the store is integrated with the  Kobo ebook reader and the Zinio magazine application.

-Another fancy add-on is the new Social hub giving you access to the latest updates from Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn, also available to see updates in a home screen widget.

What Samsung is bringing to the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is fairly impressive considering many aren’t keen into third party overlays for Google Android. The Music Hub and Samsung app programs are already in the tablet without the update and that’s not like anything you can’t find in the Android Market place or have other features like Amazon MP3. As to the video, I hope it turns out to be as good as it looks on paper and on screen.
