Google’s Chromebooks are set to go on sale on June 15 at with your choice of an Acer 11.6-incher or a Samsung 12.1-incher. We’re taking a look at the latter Samsung Series 5 Chromebook, which will be available in Wi-Fi, 3G flavors in silver or white. Nice that it’s matte all over, at least for this silver model, including the 12.1″ screen. Fast boot at under 10s. Dual core Atom N570 processor. Weighs heavier than it looks at 3.3 lbs / 1.5 kg. Large buttonless trackpad and chiclet keyboard.

The specs – a 12.1″ 1280 x 800 display (300 nits), Atom N570 processor, integrated graphics, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, 16GB SSD (mSATA), 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, VGA via dongle, shared mic/headphone jack, 2x USB 2.0, 4-in-1 card reader (SDXC) and SIM card slot (3G model). Integrated non-removable 6-cell 8280mAh battery good for up to 8.5 hours. Of course, nothing new that we haven’t heard in Google’s previous announcement.

$429 for the Wi-Fi model and $499 for the 3G model. Watch out for them in mid-June.

Is it possible to swap out the SSD? Seems like the perfect netbook to install windows on (I need my dreamweaver). Too bad Asus is reverting back to 1024×600 glossy  on their 1025C.

I am sorry but i took a shot of your face when you said that it’s heavy, it is too epic to lose it …

I don’t get it?  $429?  Shouldn’t the absence of a $120 Windows OS bring the price point lower?
