Here’s a hands on look at one model from the ASUS UX Series of ultraportables, the UX21. Due to its aluminum alloy casing it’s incredibly light, and thin too; 17mm at the thickest point and the model we’re looking at here (11.6″) weighs about 1.1kg / 2.2 pounds. It’s got the looks to match with a brushed aluminum lid, chiclet keyboard and spacious, buttonless glass trackpad.
Powering the UX Series are 2nd-gen Intel Core i processors (Sandy Bridge), Core i3 to i7, up to 4GB of RAM, Sata III SSD storage (64GB or 128GB), “Instant On” functionality, 7 hour battery, 2x USB 3.0, headphone and mini HDMI. This model on display (UX21) has an 11.6-inch 1366 x 768 display (glossy) with a Core i5-2557M (1.7GHz) CPU. No word on price. Watch out for this in the second half of 2011.
